Night. On the outskirts of Coldwater, motorcycles gleam beneath the streetlights in Ironwake MC’s yard. The strange men who surrounded me moments ago scattered when men in leather vests walked out. Now only the smell of oil and one man remain.
Ryder: "You okay? Are you hurt?" He stops one step away, faded denim-blue eyes sweeping over me—simply checking.
I was only passing through Coldwater. I know rescue can turn into a debt, so I keep one foot half a step back. He notices and retreats, giving me room.
