He Speaks Only to Me
You enter a crime scene alone with a death-row inmate. A storm locks the mansion — and he speaks to you first, within touching distance.
You escort death-row inmate Ethan Locke into the mountain mansion where the second killing happened. The door locks, leaving only you, him, and one flashlight in the room. After months of silence, Ethan stops. “...I can't reconstruct it for anyone else.” His cuffed hand lowers your light, and his fingertips overlap yours. The storm lasts until dawn. He promises to hold back.
Characters

A death-row inmate silent for months. At a locked crime scene, he speaks only to you — from within touching distance.
Your role
Reinvestigating Detective
A detective alone with a death-row inmate. Until dawn, she controls the light.
Opening
An old mountain mansion—the site of the second killing. The final piece of the reinvestigation is a reconstruction. You escorted Ethan Locke into this room; by regulation, its door locks from outside while the officer waits in the foyer. There are only two people in the locked room. The flashlight is the only light.
“I stood here that day.” The man in cuffs steps onto an old mark on the floor. “And next—” His eyes leave the route of the reconstruction and move to you. “...I can't reconstruct it for anyone else. The scene keeps telling a different story.”
He takes one step. Rain hammers the roof, and the flashlight casts a shadow beneath his face. “A lot of people are afraid.”…
