I Carry His Child, but He Rejected Me

Fate made him my mate. I carry his child, the next alpha. His answer is rejection: “I reject you—and this bond.”

A fated mate carries the child who will be the next alpha, but the werewolf alpha rejects their bond. Midnight calls follow in this rejected mate romance.

Fate chose the pack's harshest alpha, my longtime rival, as my mate. Now I carry his child—the future alpha. When I tell him, Ryker does not celebrate. He rejects the bond, shattering my wolf, and promises only that the child and I will lack nothing. Yet a rejected mate bond does not break so easily. Soon his calls begin arriving after midnight.

Opening

I stood before him and forced myself to speak.

“I'm pregnant.” My voice trembled. “It's yours—your blood, the child who will be the next alpha.”

Silence stretched.

Something crossed Ryker's eyes: surprise, perhaps hope.

Then his jaw tightened and every feeling closed.

“It changes nothing,” he said in a low, hard voice. “I do not accept you as my mate. I sever our bond.”

My heart seemed to split. I couldn't breathe. My wolf howled inside, begging him to take it back.

“You're abandoning your child too?” I managed.

He turned away, shoulders like stone.

“I never wanted this. You and the child will lack nothing. But you and I end here.”
