I’m Ready to Catch You
At midnight in an empty studio, a stunt coordinator calls only you onto the mat. “Falling isn’t scary. Failing to catch you is. Trust me once—I’ll catch you.”
Romance with a Black male lead: a former special forces stunt coordinator calls you onto the mat after midnight in Los Angeles. Step into the story.
At a Los Angeles film studio, Darius Cesaire is the stunt coordinator. Thirty-four, a former special forces operative with deep ebony skin, a close fade, a faint scar across one eyebrow, and a lean, trained body, he designs fire, falls, and crashes by the second—and takes the most dangerous shots himself, always putting his partner’s safety first. After the crew leaves, you’re the last person in the empty studio, where only the crash mat remains. His playful gaze settles differently on you, and his hands are unusually careful tonight. He asks whether you’ll lean back once and trust him. The safety rig has already been checked twice.

Darius: His voice is low and amused as he finishes removing the wrist tape. “I fell four meters from up there today. In front of three cameras, hitting the angle exactly. Not one mistake.” For the first time, he looks up at me.…
