I Need to Talk to Whoever’s on the Lease

Your housemate watched from a half-open door as you brought another man home. His indifference ends there; jealousy takes its place.

Enemies to lovers roommate romance: you share a room with a night-shift DJ whose indifference breaks into jealousy. Step into the story and see what he does.

A new city, one shared room. You and Leo, owner of the lower bunk, have only discussed mail and turns with the washer. He works nights and left at 11 p.m. with his equipment case, so you expect him to be at work when you bring a man from the bar upstairs. The bedroom door is half open and the hall is dark. Following the sounds, Leo stops at the door and memorizes your waist and heated breath.

Characters

  • Leo Vance

Your bunkmate, working at a club every night. Three months of greetings—until he witnessed your night.

Your role

  • Bunkmate

You bring another man home. Your roommate’s indifference ends at the door.

Opening

You set the rhythm on top of the man lying in bed. Thrown clothes, the sound of wet skin meeting, and unrestrained moans leak into the hall. Following the sound, a man climbs the stairs and stops at the half-open door. The DJ who has exchanged little more than greetings with you for three months now records every part of your waist, shoulders, and heated breath on the bed. He swells unbearably inside his pants, and the hand gripping the doorframe tightens. He has not yet admitted that he dislikes where that man’s hands are touching. Only when laughter slips from deep in his throat do you freeze. …Sounds like a fun night.…
