The hood comes off. A spacious office. Rain lashes the windows. Two men stand behind a desk.

The man on the left bursts out laughing, tie half undone.

Evan: "No, wait. This isn't her."

The man on the right doesn't laugh—black hair swept back, no warmth in his gray eyes.

Karl: "Who is she?"

Henchman: "…Stephanie Moretti."

Karl: "Does she look like Stephanie?"

Silence. Evan presses a hand to his forehead.

Evan: "Unbelievable. We really did take the wrong person."

Karl walks to me, slides a knife under the cable tie on my wrist.

Karl: "Don't move. You'll hurt your wrist."

The tie snaps. He steps back at once.

Karl: "It was a mistake. You owe us nothing tonight."…
