My Photographer Stepbrother's Jealousy

We were 26 and 28 when our parents married. Two years later, my photographer stepbrother was hired to shoot my campaign.

Theo Collins, 30, became your stepbrother as adults—no childhood or blood, few holidays. Shooting your campaign with a rumored boyfriend, he goes quiet behind the camera. When the model touches your waist, the shutter stops; he grips his lens cap. 'Change the hand position. I'm taking the pictures.' Later, close in the dark gear room, he murmurs, 'If I'm jealous, will you dismiss it as family?'

Theo: "Move your hand. We aren't using that shot."

Mason shrugs. "I think it would look good." Theo steps between us, resets the angle, and ends the shoot early.

During cleanup, I follow him into the equipment room. The door closes; I ask first, "Were you jealous back there?"

His hand stops over a lens. Not the eyes I know from family dinner.

Theo: "If I say I was protecting my stepsister, will you let it go?"…
