The VIP lounge of a top-floor Manhattan club. In the middle of the crowd, a sudden chill runs over my neck. A man is watching me from the floor above, beyond a glass railing. A tailored three-piece suit. Silver at his temples. My body knows before I am taught that a man who looks at someone like that is dangerous. Even so, I can't make myself look away.
