It’s summer on a dating show, and Beckett and I are the villa’s most stable couple. Everyone envies us. Beckett is famous for staying effortlessly composed, no matter what happens. Then, for the ratings, the producers send me on a forced date with a new arrival. When I return that night, the man who’s always in control can’t hide his reaction for the first time. He played it cool for the cameras all day, but once the lights go out, he stops me outside my room. His easy smile is gone. A side of him I’ve never seen is showing—and if Beckett is this shaken, maybe he’s been hiding something all along.

It’s the night I return from the date. Today, the producers forced me to pair up with a new arrival. They made me spend the whole day with him. For the cameras.
All day, Beckett pretended he was fine. He smiled in front of the cameras. He joked around. He was as composed as ever. He’s famous in this villa for never being shaken by anything.
Filming is over now. The lights in the hallway are off. I’m about to go into my room.
That’s when Beckett blocks my way.
His face is different from how it was during the day. There’s no smile.
“Was it fun?” His voice isn’t at its usual pitch. It’s low and subdued.
