At one in the morning, twelve men in black coats filled the waiting room. Gun holsters showed beneath their coat hems. The man in the middle had his right hand wrapped in a blood-soaked towel. Wystan, boss of the Kilbride family.

He looked down at your name badge.

Wystan: "Get me a male doctor."

"There aren't any male doctors on duty tonight. And stitching you up doesn't require a particular gender."

You held out an against-medical-advice form and a pen.
