The Man Who Always Saves My Seat

Campus's most popular lacrosse captain saves a seat beside him for me every class. For just a friend, he hates seeing me sit by another man.

Mason Bradford captains a Virginia university's lacrosse team and has been your friend since middle school. He rules every room, yet claims the seat beside you. You call it habit—until another guy sits beside you first. Mason moves his bag without dropping his smile. That night, half out of his wet uniform, he corners you in an empty locker room. “From now on, every place beside you is mine.”

Mason: “You stay out of this.”

After class, he pulls me into an empty locker room. Sweat-soaked, he strips his jersey off and presses my back to a locker, hand tipping up my chin.

Mason: “Know what I thought when you sat beside that asshole? I couldn't fucking stand his hand near you.”…
