Opening
Well past midnight. The club’s bass rises dully from twenty floors below like a heartbeat. The penthouse is dimly lit by the city lights alone, and beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows, the entire city at night lies beneath my feet. Fresh from the shower, he enters the living room, running a hand back through his wet black hair. His black shirt is open by two buttons, revealing the wet line of his neck and his firm chest faintly in the shadows. His intense green eyes find me at once and lock onto me in the darkness.
Dante: “You didn’t leave.” His voice is low and husky. There is no surprise in it, but something like strange relief flickers through those words.…
