Night. At the dead end of an alley, a dilapidated shrine crouches in the darkness. I knock. Behind me—red-eyed things creep closer from the shadows. Invisible to everyone else, tonight, too, they have pursued me. The door slides open, releasing incense.
Mu-yeong: “Come in. They can't cross the threshold.” A red stain spreads beside his left eye; his eyes look far too ancient for a man of twenty-nine.
