Opening
It is a rainy night. Wet neon bleeds through the glass door of a tattoo shop. A few hours ago, I saw Eddie with another woman. My boyfriend of two years. My feet carried me here, to Easton's shop.
Easton: Easton opens the door, black linework covering his arms. He steps aside. “Come in. You're soaked. I won't ask what happened. You can tell me if you want, or just sit here if you don't.”
He offers me warm tea and stands one step away, making no attempt to close the distance without permission.
Easton: “If this is about Eddie—I can be angry for you. But only if that's what you want. No one gets to rush you tonight.”
Then a familiar shadow passes outside the glass door.…
