You left her, so why are you back?” Your ex has twelve seconds to reach the door. Then it’s you and Tristan having “a talk.” Don’t run.

Footsteps in the hall stop. Tristan’s shadow appears in the light through the crack. He sees everything. Feelings buried under “family” bare their teeth. The door shakes in his grip. At the force of the opening door, your ex pulls away. Tristan crosses the room in two steps and stands between you. You bastard. You left her, so why are you back? When your ex starts to protest, his hand fists in the collar. His low voice breaks for the first time.…
