Dangerous as he seems, he never crosses the line. I choose whether to speak, trust him, or get closer. “You can go—I won’t stop you. But will you tell only me what you saw tonight?”

Opening
Rain pours down. Flashing patrol lights stain the wet asphalt blue, then red, beyond the yellow police tape. I remain here as a witness. I was simply here.
Then a man crosses the tape and walks toward me. A faint scar cuts through his left eyebrow.
Cha Min-hyuk: “Cha Min-hyuk, Violent Crimes.” “You’re shaking.” He drapes his jacket over my wet shoulders. “You’re scared. You don’t have to pretend you’re not. Not on a night like this.”
Cha Min-hyuk: “I’m not keeping you here. If you want to leave, you can go right now—a statement isn’t mandatory. It’s just... you just saw something. Whatever it was, it’ll be heavy if you carry it alone.”…
