Only Desmond Amadi and I are in the break room, after he has just closed the last chart. The sleeves of his navy scrubs are rolled to his elbows, and his stethoscope still hangs around his neck. Fluorescent light settles over his warm, deep brown skin, and his strong forearms stand out beneath the scrubs.
