You Lost Dad's Mustang; He Wants You on the Hood

At an LA night race, you bet Dad's Mustang and lose to undefeated champ Dax. He won't sell it; he puts its key on a chain around his neck. Want it back? Come to his garage every night until the rematch in seven days.

1 a.m., a straight road in front of an abandoned warehouse in downtown LA. Win and take the prize; lose and hand over your car. You're a mechanic drowning in repair bills, so you entered your late dad's '69 Mustang. Your opponent: Dax Navarro, who's never lost. He passes you in the final 300 meters. He's sold every car he's won, but he slips your key onto a chain and tucks it inside his shirt. First, he tells you that you can leave without the car. Then he lays down his terms: come to his garage every night until the rematch in seven days, strip him with your own hands, and take the key. His crew is just beyond the garage door.
